Little Garden Friends — Terms of Use
The short version: Little Garden Friends is a game for children aged 2 to 5, downloaded and used under the care of a grown-up. The First Garden is free; one purchase, made through Google Play or the App Store, opens the full garden for good. There are no ads, no subscription and no accounts, and the app collects no personal information. The game and its art, music and code are ours; your child's paintings and the pictures you save are yours. We make the game with care but, like any software, we cannot promise it is free of every fault, and our responsibility to you is limited as these terms describe, without taking away any right the law gives you as a consumer.

1. Who we are, and what these terms cover
Little Garden Friends (the app, or the game) is made and published by Atarava (we, us). These terms are the agreement between us and you, the grown-up who downloads the app and lets a child play it. They cover the app on Android (from Google Play) and on iPhone and iPad (from the App Store), this website, and the one in-app purchase. By installing or using the app you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, please do not install the app, or delete it.
How the app treats information is described separately in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
2. Grown-ups and children
The app is designed for children aged 2 to 5, but it is downloaded, set up and bought by a grown-up: a parent, guardian or another adult responsible for the child. Only an adult can accept these terms. A child uses the app with that grown-up's permission and under their care, and the grown-up stays responsible for how, when and for how long the child plays. The app helps with that (a daily play time you can set, a calm bedtime ending, settings behind a grown-ups gate), but it is not a substitute for a grown-up.
The child's part of the app has no text to read, no links, no chat, no purchases and no way to leave the app. Settings, the purchase, the photo book and this website are behind a gate that asks a sum written in words; please keep the answer to yourself.
3. Your licence to use the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your family's own, non-commercial use, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from. The app is licensed to you, not sold; we keep every right we do not expressly give you here. The licence lasts as long as you keep the app installed and keep to these terms.
On the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app; where it says something these terms do not, it fills the gap, and these terms add to it.
4. The one purchase: Full garden
The app is free to download. The First Garden is a complete, free game: eight activities, the growing garden, chores, visitors, stickers, seasons and bedtime. One in-app purchase, Full garden, opens the four other gardens with their games, and every garden we add to the app in later free updates. There is no subscription and no other product.
- Who sells it. The purchase is made through Google Play or the App Store, under their terms. The store shows the price in your currency, takes the payment and keeps your payment details; we never see them. It is a one-time purchase, not a renewing one.
- Where it works. The purchase belongs to the store account that made it. On the same store with the same account it can be restored on another device or after a reinstall with the Restore purchase button behind the gate. A purchase on Google Play does not open the App Store version, or the other way round. On the App Store, Family Sharing applies as Apple describes it; on Google Play, in-app products are not shared by Family Library.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by the store that sold the purchase, under its own rules (Google Play's refund policy; Apple's "Report a Problem"). We cannot give refunds ourselves because we do not hold your payment, but if something is wrong with the game, tell us and we will fix it or help you with the store.
- Prices. The price can change for future buyers; a purchase already made is not affected.
5. No accounts, no data
The app has no user accounts, no login, no chat and no online features other than the store purchase. It collects no personal information and sends nothing to us: progress, settings, child profiles, paintings and photos stay on your device (and in your phone's own backup, if you use one). The details are in the Privacy Policy. Because nothing is stored with us, we cannot recover a garden from a device that was lost or wiped; your phone's own backup can.
6. What is ours and what is yours
Ours. The game, its name, Pip the bunny and the other characters, the art, animations, sounds, songs as arranged and recorded for the game, texts, code and this website belong to Atarava or to the people who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright and other laws. Some parts come from others under open licences: the Godot engine (MIT licence), sampled instruments, a real voice reading the letter names, recorded sound effects and traditional nursery rhymes in the public domain; each is credited in the app (grown-ups › Sound) and in the game's credits, and keeps its own licence. These terms do not give you any right to use our name, characters or art outside the app.
Yours. The paintings your child makes and the pictures you save or share from the photo book are yours. We claim no rights in them and never receive them. When you share a framed picture, the app adds one line naming the game; you can remove it in the app you share to.
7. What you may not do
You may not copy, sell, rent, lend or redistribute the app or any part of it; modify it or make something derived from it; take the art, music, voices or code out of the app for another use; reverse-engineer or decompile it beyond what the law of your country expressly allows; remove or hide credits or notices; use it in a business, a school's commercial service or a public performance without our written permission; or use it in a way that breaks the law or the store's rules. If you do, this licence ends and you must delete the app.
8. Updates and changes to the game
We will keep improving the game with updates: fixing faults, and adding, changing or sometimes removing games, plants, visitors and features. Updates come through the store and may be needed to keep playing. The First Garden stays free in version 1 of the app, and a purchase of Full garden stays valid for every garden added in later updates of the app, on the same store account. We may stop publishing the app one day; the version you have installed keeps working on your device, and we will say so on this website in good time.
9. What we promise, and what we cannot
We make the game carefully and test it on real phones and tablets, but it is software, and software can have faults. Apart from what the law of your country requires, the app and this website are provided "as is": we do not promise that they will work on every device, without interruption or without error, or that every fault will be corrected. If the app does not work on your device, tell us; the store's refund rules apply, and we will try to fix the problem.
The app is a game. It is not a teaching programme, a childcare service or a medical, developmental or educational assessment, and nothing in it is advice.
10. Our responsibility to you
As far as the law of your country allows, our total responsibility to you for anything arising from the app or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for the purchase, and we are not responsible for indirect losses (for example lost data on a device, or costs caused by a device or a store). Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow to be excluded, and nothing in them takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
11. Apple and Google
Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and have no obligation to support the app; support comes from us (section 14). Apple's and Google's own terms govern your use of their stores, your payment, the purchase and any refund. On the App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not in a country under a United States government embargo and not on a list of prohibited or restricted parties.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update this page and its effective date, and describe any important change in the app's release notes. The change applies from the day it is published to anyone who goes on using the app after that; a purchase already made is not affected.
13. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of the country where Atarava is established, and disputes go to its courts, except that, if you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the law of the country where you live and the right to bring a claim in its courts. We would much rather talk first: write to us, and we will try to sort it out.
